So, sharpen those spears, dust off those secret lures, charge your lights, and maybe even adjust those kids’ bedtimes. It’s time to get competitive!

General Rules:


  • All anglers must be current financial members of the Manukau Sport Fishing Club (MSFC).
  • Membership must be valid at the time of catching and submitting any fish.
  • Eligible species: Flounder only – no other species will be accepted.
  • All flounder must meet the minimum legal size requirements for their species as set by New Zealand fishing regulations.
  • Line-caught entries must comply with NZSFC rules.
  • Spearing is permitted, but netting is strictly prohibited.
  • Anglers may fish anywhere within New Zealand waters.


Measuring & Submissions:


  • A clear photo or video must show:
    • The fish lying flat on a reputable measure mat.
    • The head and tail clearly lined up with measurement markers.
    • The total length clearly visible in the shot.
  • A completed catch sheet must also be submitted. (Click Here)
  • Email both the photo/video and catch sheet to: records@msfc.org.nz
  • All entries must be received by 11:59pm, October 31st, 2026.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted to allow organizers time to finalize winners before the December MSFC Club meeting.


Prizes:


  • Winners must be present at the November MSFC club meeting to collect prizes.
  • If the winner is absent, the prize will go to the next longest fish.
  • In the event of a tie, prize will be given to the first person who measured their fish of those who have tied 


Disqualification & Conduct:


  • Any form of cheating will result in immediate disqualification at the discretion of the committee and organizers.
  • Confirmed cases will result in membership revocation and may be reported to NZ Police for fraud.
  • The committee reserves the right to decline any entries where photo or video evidence is unclear or incomplete.
